Abstract

Azides are valuable intermediates in organic chemistry. Usually obtained by the replacement of hydroxyl groups, their chemical stability and their easy reduction make them attractive compounds for obtaining the corresponding amines. Azides have gained even more interest with the discovery of the mild and effective Cu(I)-catalysed 1,3-dipolar Huisgen cycloaddition of azides with alkynes 1 (belonging to 'click' chemistry 2 ).
