Abstract

Microbiological reduction of a, P-unsaturated carbonyl compounds is studied. Inducibility of the enone redudase system of Beauveria sulfurescens is reported. The best inducer is shown to be cyclohex-Zen-1-one. An appropriate procedure using induced resting mycelium is developed to reduce substituted cyclohexenones that are shown to be unable to induce the reducing enzyme.
