Abstract

Ketones (IIa, b),(V), and (VI) were obtained by the Friedel--Crafts acylation of indane, tetralin, or butylbenzene with 3-phenylpropionyl or propionyl chloride in the presence of anhydrous AICI 3, and the aminoketone hydrochloride (IVc) by the Mannich condensation of ketone (Ic) with dimethylamine hydrochloride and paraformaidehyde.
