Abstract The autoxidation of 1, 1-dibromo-2, 2-difluoroethylene gives a mixture of dibromofluoroacetyl fluoride and bromodifluoroacetylbromide, which could be separated in the form of their ethyl esters. Several reactions of the two acids have been investigated. The mechanism of the autoxidation process is discussed briefly. The preparation of dibromoacetyl bromide by autoxidation of tribromoethylene has been improved.
