Abstract: The pyrolysis of alkyl thiolsulfinates is shown to afford alkanesulfenic or alkanethiosulfoxylic acids which may be trapped in good yields with acetylenes giving a,@- unsaturated sulfoxides or thiolsulfinates, respectively.
