Abstract

N-Acylethanolamines (NAEs) including N-arachidonoylethanolamine (anandamide) and N- palmitoylethanolamine are endogenous lipid mediators. These molecules are degraded to the corresponding fatty acids and ethanolamine by fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) or NAE-hydrolyzing acid amidase (NAAA).
