Abstract

The diarylmethane motif is commonly found in a range of biologically active compounds 1 and pharmaceuticals. 2 Perhaps the most useful catalytic route to this class of compounds is via transition-metal-catalysed cross-coupling reactions. The copper-catalysed coupling of arylGrignard reagents as the nucleophilic coupling partner is successful, 3 but limited by low functional group tolerance.
