Abstract

In the first paper2 of this series it was shown that certain keto acid derivatives of a-or@- naphthol having the general formula will increase the volume output of bile in dogs. Among the twenty-four compounds reported at that time, those bearing the 0-carboxypropionyl side chain (-COCH2CH2C02H) were found to be especially effective choleretics.
