IC and IIc, R= R'= CGH~ Carbonation of phenylallylsodium gave a mixture of acids containing about 90% CsH5CH (C02H)-CH= CH2 and 10% C6H&H= CHCH? CO? H, while reaction with acetone gave approximately equal amounts of Ib and IIb, and reaction with benzophenone yielded only IC.
