Pseudo-first-order rate constants and catalytic rate constants are reported for the buffer- catalyzed hydrolysis of 4-fluoroquinaldine (1) in carboxylic acid and phosphoric acid buffers. The buffer catalysis is consistent with specific acid, general base catalysis.
