Abstract An organometallic complex obtained by mixing Me 3 Al and Cl 2 TiCp 2 reacts with acetylenes to form monocarbometallated products in favorable cases, while dehydrometallation and polymerization compete in the cases of dialkylacetylenes having propargylic hydrogens and terminal acetylenes, respectively.
