Abstract

Poly (2, 5-diheptyl-1, 4-phenylenevinylene)(1) was prepared by the sulfonium salt pyrolysis procedure. Tough films of 1 were obtained by pyrolysis of its sulfonium salt precursor film. Due to flexible side chains, 1 was soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform. The molecular weights were M n= 3.8− 4.7× 10 4 and M w= 1.4− 1.8× 10 5.
