Abstract The reactions between 3-benzoyl-2-isothiocyanato-4, 5, 6, 7-tetrahydrobenzo [b] thiophene and hydrazine or primary amines have been studied. The products obtained were identified as derivatives of 4-phenyl-2-thioxo-2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8-hexahydrobenzo [4, 5] thieno [2, 3-d] pyrimidine.
