(2) By Reduction of 18. Compound 18 (500 mg, 2" 01) was added portionwise to a stirred and cooled mixture of Zn dust (320 mg, 5 mmol), CuS04. 5H20 (2 mg), water (0.5 mL), and 20% NaOH (1 mL). The mixture was stirred in the cold for h, diluted with water (2 mL), and heated at 90 OC for 1 h.
