Abstract A series of thiazolyl-oxazoles, most of them having the structural feature [BOND] N [BOND] C [BOND] C [BOND] N [BOND] of 2, 2′-bipyridyl known to form metal chelates, has been synthesized by condensation of α-halogen carbonyl compounds with thioamides of oxazole-carboxylic acids. The latter were obtained by the method of C ORNFORTH and by preparing successively their esters, amides, and nitriles.
