Abstract

16a,b concentrated aqueous ammonium hydroxide. After ex- traction procedures as before, short-path distillation (90 "C (0.01 torr)] afforded a liquid shown to be a mixture of 16a and 16b (278 mg, 70% yield together),18 separable by analytical GLC. Treatment of the mixture 16 with a solution of aqueous hydrochloric acid (5 M) and THF (equivolume) at reflux for 24 h gave, after the usual iso- lation procedures, a mixture of diastereoisomeric spiro- cyclohexenones ...
