Abstract

Method (A) gave the disilacyclohexane (VII) and-heptane (VIII) in good and comparable yields. However, this method was found to be far from satisfactory for synthesis of the disilacylcooctane (IX); sometimes only a trace of it could be detected by gas chromatography in the reaction mixture. Almost all the product was a viscous polymeric material.
