Abstract

The syntheses of cis-and truns-1, 2-dihydro-l, 2-dihydroxyindeno [1, 2, 3-cd] pyrene, 1, 2- dihydroindeno [1, 2, 3-cdlpyrene 1, 2-epoxide, and 1-, 2-, 6-, 7-, 8-, 9-, and lO-hydroxyinden0 [1, 2, 3-cd] pyrene are described. UV and high-resolution NMR spectral data are reported for each compound synthesized.
