Abstract

Abstract The Baeyer–Villiger oxidation of cyclic ketones to the corresponding lactones using aqueous hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant over transition metal oxides was investigated. MoO 3 and WO 3 were found to exhibit higher catalytic activity than TiO 2, Fe 2 O 3, Co 3 O 4, ZnO and ZrO 2. The high catalytic activity was attributed to the interaction of MoO 3/H 2 O 2 and WO 3/H 2 O 2. Additionally, the reaction mechanism on MoO 3 and WO 3 was ...
