A palladium complex with a new hemilabile amino-and sulfur-containing phosphinite ligand has been synthesised and its crystal structure determined. This system efficiently catalyses the Heck reaction of aryl bromides with styrene at 130° C after 24h, with turnover numbers of up to 100000 and with a selectivity towards trans-stilbenes ranging from 91.5 to 96.3%.
