Abstract

Preparation of barium manganate in large-scale is discussed. It is also shown that this reagent is capable of oxidizing organic substrates, converting alcohols to their corresponding carbonyl compounds, aromatic amines to their corresponding azo compounds, hydroquinone to p-benzoquinone, benzylamine to benzaldehyde, and triphenylphosphine to its oxide in good yields.
