Abstract

Prostaglandin E1 analogs 5a and 5b, having methyl and ethyl groups as the ω-chain, were synthesized by a two-step alkylation system of diethyl 3-oxoglutarate (1) and their six- membered ring analogs 8a and 8b also derived from the first alkylation product 2 via a Michael reaction.
