Summary Catalytic detritylation by reduction of the esterified a, a'-ditrityl ether of glycerol has been verified in the preparation of beta monopalmitin in good yield. Thus, an additional method for preparing beta monoesters of the fatty acids is available, as suggested by Verkade.
