Abstract

Squalamine (1) is a novel aminosterol isolated from the dogfish shark, 1 which has been shown to possess antiangiogenic and antitumor activity. 2 Until the present time, the only practical way to obtain significant quantities of squalamine was by extraction from shark livers.
