Abstract

Selective regiochemical introduction of fluorine8 into methyl and methylene positions of (Z)- Bdecenyl acetate provides analogues to probe the hydrophobicity requirements of the pheromone receptor site in the turnip moth, Agrotis segetum. Pertluorobutyl-, ditluoromethylene, trifluoromethyl-, and tetratluoroethylene-containing analogues have been synthesized and chemically characterized.
