Abstract The regiochecnical preferences of substituted selenoaldehydes in cycloaddition reactions with electronically biased dienes have been examined. Selenoaldehydes substituted with electron withdrawing groups exhibit “ortho-para” orientation, while selenoaldehydes substituted with donating or conjugating groups exhibit “meta” orientation.
