Abstract Two synthetic models of the active site of cytochrome c oxidase–-[(L N4-OH) Cu I- Fe II (TMP)]+(1 a) and [(L N3-OH) Cu I-Fe II (TMP)]+(2 a)—have been designed and synthesized.
