Abstract

Results When the Zintl phase K2T3” is treated with concentrated aqueous Bu4NBr, a black solid precipitates from a bright purple solution. Filtration, drying, and recrystallization from acetone at-40 OC gives good yields of large, metallic black crystals of composition (BU, N)~ T~~. Since K2Te3 is completely soluble in water, the formation of (B u~ N)~ T~~ must be accompanied by the formation of lower tellurides, Te, 2-(x<
