Abstract

Method B.-VIIIb may be obtained from IIIb by the method of Zincke and Wugk. 9 To 1.0 g. of IIIb dissolved in 10 ml. of glacial acetic acid was added 1 ml. of concentrated nitric acid. After standing one hour, water was added to incipient precipitation followed by cooling; bright yellow plates, mp 104-105', precipitated; mixed mp with product from method A showed no depression.
