Abstract Methyl and ethyl esters of 3, 3-dicyano-2-(trifluoromethyl) acrylic acid (I) and (II) have been obtained by condensation of methyl and ethyl trifluoropyruvate with malononitrile. The C-alkylation reactions of anilines and possibilities of forming heterocyclic compounds with other types of arylamines have been systematically studied for alkene-esters (I) and (II).
