Cationic nucleoside lipids (CNLs) derived from 5-nitroindole and 4-nitroimidazole bases were prepared from d-ribose by using a straightforward chemical synthesis. TEM experiments indicate that these amphiphilic molecules self-assemble to form supramolecular organizations in aqueous solutions.
