Abstract

THE action of ammonia on substances of the type of ethylene oxide was originally studied by Wurtz (Annalen, 1860, 114, 51). The react-ion has since been reinvestigated by Knorr (Ber., 1897, 30, 909), who succeeded in isolating the primary, secondary, and tertiary ethanolamines in a pure condition. Knorr has also studied the action of ammonia on glycide (Ber.,
