Abstract Reaction of ethyl 3, 4-dimethoxyphenylpropionale with chlorosulfonic acid yielded 2- carbo-elhoxyethyl-3, 4-dimelhoxybenzene sulfochloride, which was converted to 2- earboethoxyethyl-3, 4-dimethoxybenzcnesulfonamides by the action of ammonia or substituted aromatic amines.
