Abstract

R= HC 3 to the rearrangement of cinnamyl trichloromethanesulfenate to cinnamyl trichloromethyl sulfoxide8 and P-ionyl p-toluenesulfinate to P-ionyl p-tolyl sulfone. In these cases an allylic shift would have resulted in loss of conjugation and/or increased steric interactions. Carbon tetrachloride in the presence of potassium hydroxide lo at room temperature converted sulfones
