Abstract

The synthesis of alkyl esters of 5-alkoxy-2-sulfamoylbenzoic acids by alcoholysis of the corresponding 3-oxo-2, 3-dihydrobenzo [d] isothiazole-l, l-dioxides [i] by the procedure of [2], which had been used to prepare the methyl esters, is accompanied, on transition to higher alcohols, by a decrease in yield (for isopropyl alcohol, the yield is 3-5%).
