The syntheses of the polycarbogermanes poly [2, 5-(dimethylgermyl) thiophene](1), poly [bis (2-thienyl) germanium or tin](2, 3) and poly [2, 5-bis (2-thienylgermyl) thiophene](4) by condensation between anionic species of thiophene and dichlorometal compounds are described.
