Abstract: A general method for the synthesis of trans-1 5, 16-dialkyldihydropyrenes is described, and using this method, preparations of trans-1 5, 16-diethyldihydropyrene (lb) and trans-1 5J6-di-n-propyldihydropyrene (IC) have been accomplished.
