Summary A study of the relative ease of formation of a number of ethers of triphenylcarbinol, benzhydrol, benzyl alcohol and butyl alcohol has been made. Certain transetherifications were also investigated. Both the etherifications and transetherifications were carried out and followed by a method which involved removal of the byproduct water by azeotropic distillation,
