Abstract

As part of a program to find improved insectrepellents, a number of 2-aryl-and 2- alkoxycyclohexanols were prepared from cyclohexene oxide. The 2-arylcyclohexanols were obtained by condensing cyclohexene oxide with appropriate aryllithiums3; Grignard reagents were not used because the products would have been the isomeric arylcyclopentylcarbinols. 3 The postulated cyclohexanol structure was confirmed for one ...
