IV v VI placement of the imino group would not be expected, since, in order to break the strong double bond between the nitrogen atom and the electropositive carbon, the presence of a strong acid with the ability to protonate the nitrogen atom would be necessary. We have shown that most perfluoroacyl imidate acid salts are unstable.
