Abstract

Abstract Di-and tri-hydrogenosilanes, RR′ SiH 2 and RSiH 3 (R= aryl, allyl or benzyl; R′ aryl or alkyl), readily undergo exchange reactions, involving silicon carbon bonds and silicon-hydrogen bonds, in the presence of hydrides (LiAlH 4, KH and NaH) as catalysts. These results are discussed in terms of five-coordinate silicon hydrides as intermediates in the reaction.
