Abstract

Stability Experiments with [30]Annulene.-A weighed sample of [30]annulene was allowed to stand at room tem- perature in diffuse day-light for 4 hr. and then crushed and triturated with warm benzene. 'C'ltraviolet examination showed that less than 5% of starting material remained. A solution of [30]annulene in chloroform (ca. 0.6s ing./l.) which initially showed A,,, 429 mp ( E 0.250) on be- ing allowed to stand without protection from diffuse day-light after 24 hr. ...
