Abstract

Reaction of cyclopropanecarboxamide (I) and oxalyl chloride did not give the expected cyclopropanecarbonyl isocyanate (11), but rather y-chlorobutyroyl isocyanate (111). I11 was evidently formed from I or I1 and the liberated hydrogen chloride. The proof of the structure of y-chlorobutyroyl isocyanate (111) was obtained
