Mukund G. Kulkarni was born in India in 1953. He received his B.Sc. in 1973 and M.Sc. in 1975 from the University of Pune, and his doctoral degree in organic chemistry from the University of Alberta in 1985. He returned to India and was a lecturer at the University of Pune from January 1989 to December 1996 and is currently a reader at the same place.
