Abstract In the course of an investigation into the properties of substituted tetraphenylethanes, benzhydryl chlorides and basic benzhydryl ethers we have prepared 2- ethyl-, 2, 6-and 2, 2′-diethyl-, 2, 6, 2′-triethyl-, 2, 6, 2′, 6′-tetraethyl-, 2-isopropyl-, 2, 6- and 2, 2′-diisopropyl-, 2, 6, 2′-triisopropyl-and 2, 6, 2′, 6′-tetraisopropyl- benzophenone as well as the corresponding benzhydrols and benzhydryl chlorides.
