Abstract

Upon ionization in argon matrices by X-irradiation, o-vinylbenzaldehyde (VBA) partially undergoes transfer of the formyl hydrogen atom to the vinylic CH2 group, thereby forming a quinoketene radical cation of the type previously described (Bally, T.; Michalak, JJ Photochem.
