Abstract

In the course of further studies of the chemistry of l-cyan0-1, 3-butadiene,~~~ a dimeraa of the substance has been isolated and characterized. In common with many butadienes, l- cyano-1, 3-butadiene condenses with itself in the Diels-Alder fashion to yield a cyclic dimer, 3 which in this instance proved to be 1-(P-cyanovinyl)-2-cyano-3-cyclohexene (I).
