Abstract

In this general sequence a group G is connected to the amine in order to facilitate the deprotonation step and avoid a possible competitive metalation reaction at the nitrogen atom. In general, this group must be stable towards strong bases, must not interfere with the electrophilic substitution and must be conveniently removed in the last step.
