Abstract

Under the 9, 10-dicyanoanthracene (DCA)-sensitized photoinduced electron-transfer (PET) conditions, 2, 5-diaryl-3, 3, 4, 4-tetradeuterio-1, 5-hexadiene (d 4-1) undergoes a degenerate Cope rearrangement to give a photostationary mixture of d 4-1 and its 1, 1, 6, 6- tetradeuterio analogue d 4-1'in 52: 48.
