Abstract

Improved synthw and certain reactions of 2, 6-diphenyl-4H-thiopyan-4one 1, l-dioxide and 4H-thioflaven-Cone 1, l-dioxide are reported. Many of these derivatives, which display reversible, one-electron reduction waves in their cyclic voltammograms between Eoll2=-0.10 and-0.40 V (vs. SCE), are of interest as a potential new class of organic acceptors.
